Insider’s Italy Themed Trips

Active and Environmental

Italy’s natural and cultural heritage

We have always felt protective towards Italy’s natural and cultural heritage and consistently encourage travels that are off the beaten tourist track.

By sweet coincidence, many of Italy’s lesser visited regions are especially well suited to environmental and active travels.

We plan active trips that include the ancient Transumanza,
accompanying sheep on their seasonal migrations, and active sustainable seasonal initiatives (for example traditional olive or grape picking) that ensure that agricultural traditions will remain ongoing.

For bicycle lovers, we integrate bike use in many of our Travel Plans.

For active Italy lovers we offer climbing.
And walking.
And remarkable swimming.

Reducing the heavy traffic in renowned Italian destinations, we plan travels in regions not often visited.

We coordinate visits to archeological sites that are of remarkable interest and beauty, but do not suffer from over tourism.  All the more so when the Colosseum and Pompeii are over-run, Alba Fucens and Ostia Antica are regular destinations for our travelers. Etruscan Cerveteri, one of the most important sites in Italy, a World Heritage destination, is also a favorite and an Insider’s Italy essential.

We consistently urge out of season travel.  In recent years, for example, the best swimming of the year in Amalfi has been in early November.

We plan authentic experiences, pulling you into the lives of small producers who practice their artisan crafts as much for passion as for economic necessity.  Your interest and support of them plays an important role in preserving these cultures.
