February 25 : A Day in Italy

There is nothing particularly special about today’s blog, except that it is representative of February 25 in Italy in Rome, Padova, and in and just outside of Spoleto.

I want you to be here to try the pizza bianca, worked in long strips by the baker’s fingertips, when it comes hot from the oven at Forno Campo de Fiori, intoxicating and fragrant. To watch the spring evening light leaving the olive groves. To walk arm in arm with someone you love under a portico. To throw confetti into the air for Carnival in Piazza Navona. To buy a fruit-topped cream puff cake or Carnival frappe pastries.
