The Beloved Hotel
In the 30 years we have run Insider’s Italy, we have investigated hundreds and hundreds of hotels and inns. And with the passage of years, by listening intently to our travelers’ requirements and desires, we have become skillful at matching accommodations to individual clients. For example : one villa that we love in Tuscany will not suit one particular family but it will entirely delight another.
Or : in Venice we have two smaller five star hotels that are comparable in terms of comfort, style and service, but we can nearly always correctly determine which will be a better match to our client’s tastes and preferences.
There is one particular inn that I have loved from the day we stayed there first, when our daughter was just three months old. It was, in fact, her first hotel.
And among all the hotels in our Insider’s Italy collection, she puts this one towards the very top of her list.
So do we.

Parents do not need to request this magnificent crib or its perfect linens : it is just there, part of the quiet, complete care that is the signature of our beloved hotel.
We have hotels where the manager and the staff are all male. And other hotels where the manager is male and the staff is all female. Some of the hotels Insider’s travellers have loved most are woman managed and all-woman staffed. This one is both woman managed and woman staffed, and is also family owned. Perhaps that explains why, as clients wrote us last year “every detail is perfect, with the right place in the bathroom to put everything, the right towels, the prettiest of linens, the loveliest antiques, colors that relax you, and of course views that are pictures, even in the drizzle.”

Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are as delighted to discuss which local restaurants offer the best local asparagus as to locate a personal coach for a serious teenage runner.
They are passionate about their restaurant, which they manage themselves, and work very hard to ensure that you are absolutely delighted with both food and wine (both of which are outstanding !)
Last October, our travelers Richard and Ruth wrote during their stay : “how we love this hotel ! The sister owners are delightful and attentive, and their staff is so very good. Probably the best hospitality service we’ve had, but all have been good. And the walks ! We love where we can walk, and then returning here each evening is just delightful.”
A Canadian clients last September said : “I think what I loved most was just sitting on the terrace and overlooking the village. I never ever wanted to leave. I want to come back here for our tenth anniversary but then I don’t really want to wait that long !”
From clients from Austen TX : “We loved this hotel so much that we came back the night before we left for home. We actually left Florence a whole day early just so we could be here for just a little longer. It was a homecoming.”
