The Perfect Walk After Lunch in Florence

While the light is still tender, we take our perfect post lunch walk.

Down from Pian de Giullari, where Galileo lived there from 1631  till the end of his life in 1642, eight under house arrest sentence after the inquisition.

This is a walk we’ve sent countless clients on too, this over the decades and since Insider’s Italy took it first — or rather I did, with my mother, and when still a child, 50 years ago.

The walk begins after you have left lunch, and wander back into Florence.

It was a very good lunch, and we told you exactly what to order.  Like every restaurant on our list, we know it well, know its owners, and select your table for you. We also select your view.

What do you eat ?

I will leave that to you to discover. I will tell you only about the beans, with new season olive oil.

The rest is for you to discover. This is a walk we urge in the months we really love Florence, from early November through pre-Easter when the crowds start to press into the city. As part of our unique customized travel planning for Italy, we coordinate it perfectly for you.

All you need do is to walk downhill, and take it all in.

When you have returned home, of course you will cherish the thought of satisfying hours spent before lunch enjoying paintings the Uffizi.

But the true memories you will cherish, for years and years to come, were of an unhurried, traditional Florentine family lunch and a magic walk through timeless landscape in the company of those whom you love.

Insider’s Italy has been making such memories for travelers for 34 yearsIsn’t it time to start planning your trip to Italy ?
