What are you missing most ?

A year into Covid-19, Insider’s Italy is still here. It is your support that allows us, after 30 years of business, to not lose hope. Your emails and messages and your purchase of gift certificates for friends and family or as pay-forwards for yourself keep our heads (just) above water.  We are grateful.

Museums are reopening in some regions, appearing one by one like enormously welcome snowdrops in a winter landscape.

Regrettably, opening hours at present are just on weekdays. We support our superb Venice guide Antonella in believing that museums are unjustified in asserting that as a result of no international tourism, and subsequently fewer ticket sales, they cannot at present afford to keep to a complete operative week.  Culture cannot be measured by its economic viability !  We await anxiously the return to long visiting hours. Hours to feast your eyes and your spirit on art within an estimated 100,000 monuments.

Still, wonderful exhibitions have been planned for this year : let us know if you would like our list.

We all have elements of Italy that we love most.  From the ambulatory porchetta truck that makes the rounds of Tuscany markets, selling what may be the best sandwiches in the world…

To the supremely under-visited Sicilian site of Morgantina

To night-time walks

To seeing with serenity and in all the time you want Ostia Antica (and Pompeii and Herculaneum and Tarquinia and Cerveteri and…)

To the colors of Italy

To fountains

To food

To squares

What are you missing most ?  Tell us by completing our no obligation survey.  We will very soon have our first set of ideas on the way.

Your next trip to Italy will be absolutely remarkable.

Alla salute !
